  • 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐊 𝐃𝐄𝐁𝐀𝐓𝐄: 𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐒 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐓𝐄𝐂𝐇𝐍𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐆𝐘 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐍𝐒𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 Senator Bernie Sanders has introduced a groundbreaking bill in the United States, aiming to address worker exhaustion. The proposal suggests transitioning from the traditional 𝟰𝟬-𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗶𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝟯𝟮-𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀, without any loss in pay. The bill also advocates for overtime pay for shifts exceeding eight hours or weeks extending beyond 32 hours of work. This move recognizes the changing landscape of work and the need for flexibility. Proponents of the shorter work week point to international examples like 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲'𝘀 𝟯𝟱-𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 week and ongoing discussions in Norway, Denmark, and Germany. These countries have demonstrated the feasibility and benefits of shorter work hours. The debate extends beyond the United States, with Japan's experience of a 𝟯𝟬-𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸 between 1988 and 1996. The country saw a 20% decline in economic output during that period. #ShorterWorkWeek #WorkLifeBalance #ProductivityShift
