Legend
Great news, you’re already on the right track in terms of compliance!
You’re not quite on the right track. Not to worry though, there is always room for improvement!
Australian employment contract templates
It is considered best practice to review Australian employment contract templates (fixed term, permanent, casual) at least once every 12 months due to changes in legislation, to ensure reflection of individual employment conditions (e.g. salary, role, working hours) as well as to protect your organisation’s interests (e.g. non-competition, confidentiality, intellectual property).
Modern Awards & Enterprise Agreements
Assuming that your organisation does not have its own Enterprise Agreement, it is highly recommended to review Modern Award determinations, Modern Award levels, and associated regulations on a frequent basis. Why? These can change continually as employees change positions, perform new tasks, and gain additional experience.
Policies & procedures / employee handbook(s)
As legislation, best practice, and company rules change regularly, it is recommended that policies, procedures and/or handbooks are reviewed frequently. Not updating policies and procedures frequently can leave your organisation at risk, as they may fail to be up-to-date, compliant or consistent.
Accurate job descriptions
To avoid uncertainties and underperformance with employees, it is highly recommended to state your employees’ duties and responsibilities in a concise job description.
Employee engagement
Employee surveys reveal how satisfied (or dissatisfied) employees are within your organisation. These are a highly valuable tool to see what your top strengths/perks are as an employer, as well as potential areas for improvement. Your own employees’ feedback will provide clear insight into these aspects of your organisation
Immigration & global mobility
That’s great! It is recommended for organisations to collaborate with a registered migration agent to ensure efficient, complete and successful visa applications.
HR Training for Employees & Managers
An HR training session or course encourages thinking from a legal and ethical viewpoint, and the associated risks of everyday decisions. With this knowledge, managers will be able to make quick and informed decisions as they relate to people and operations.
