Right across the energy sector, the entrepreneur’s journey is a long and winding one, fraught with many obstacles and challenges.

Determined to help these pioneers, we’ve coined a unique club to provide support and advice by uniting like-minded enthusiasts.

Our very first Spark Club meeting was kicked off last Wednesday, the 2nd of November at the Polyglot Group HQ in Glebe, Sydney. This inaugural meeting brought together budding energy entrepreneurs who were seeking industry tips, to successful SME leaders who provided fascinating insights through their stories of challenge and success.

The meeting was launched with a commemorative introduction from its founders—Grant McDowell and Jan Rieche, before the discussions began. The members shared their thoughts and experiences surrounding how big ideas of the future may be facilitated. The meeting concluded with casual networking, where members had the opportunity to connect and reach out to helpful contacts.

This meeting saw attendance from some leading industry experts, including Mary Hendriks, Industry Executive at Australia Energy Storage Alliance as well as Ben McNeil, Scientist and founder and CEO of thinkable.org, Jonathan Jutsens – ARENA board member and Deputy Chairman of Australian Alliance for Energy Productivity (A2EP) and Nigel Morris, CEO at RoofJuice Australia.

As the energy sector is notably challenging to enter and influence, the participants expressed their appreciation of this unique event, as it helped them to think large through practical advice. The evening was full of important lessons in the interest of building energy businesses for collective success.

We look forwards to our next quarterly event, which will be held in February 2017.
